Kids and a summer lemonade stand-who can resist buying a cup of lemonade from a little kid? That is the simple but effective premise of the Robin Hood Foundation's Lemonaid initiative. Robin Hood targets poverty in NYC by partnering with over 240 of the cities top non-profit organizations. An impressive 100% of every dollar that Robin Hood raises goes directly to its charities-pretty impressive!
As a mother, I am always looking for ways to make sure my children understand the joys of giving back. The Lemonaid initiative gives children the ability to help others by participating in a project that is familiar to them.
The kids sold cookies and lemonade from a golf cart in the middle of the field during half time.
The Lemonaid Stand my daughter and I participated in this weekend was at the Bridgehampton Polo match at Two Trees Farms. We set our "stand" up at the entrance to the very chic Polo event and our girls did an amazing job selling their lemonade to the polo spectators. People were generous; the girls made an impressive $1,800 for the charity-not bad for a group of cute kids and a couple of lemons!
Kelly Bensimon (Housewives of NY) and her daughters came by to lend a hand.
Dr. Ruth Westheimer dropped by to support the girls and buy some lemonade.

ReplyDeleteThere is something so sweet about a lemonade stand. I've read somewhere that you should never drive by (or walk by) a lemonade stand without buying a glass!
