BARNEY'S FOOD-THEMED HOLIDAY WINDOWS REVEALED

Only Barney's New York Creative Director Simon Doonan, could take a rather tame theme- "Have A Foodie Holiday" and produce three extraordinary tableau's which feature an assemblage of 70 Food Network "personalities," chefs, and assorted luminaries, represented by giant, compelling caricatures and smaller, heavily stylized portraits.

The first window, called "Innovators," renders influential chefs and cooks like Thomas Keller, James Beard, Jamie Oliver, and Julia Child as steam escapes from a pot labeled "Revolutionary Stew." Small portraits of similarly impressive chefs like Grant Achatz, Eric Ripert, and April Bloomfield are strung around the periphery.

The second window features the severed head of Mario Batali surrounded by Anthony Bourdain, Daniel Boulud, Guy Fieri, Bobby Flay, Emeril Lagasse, and Wolfgang Puck. Rather macabe, flecks of mustard, ketchup, and sauces spatter the window surrounding poor Mario.
The women's window is more subdued: Martha Stewart, Paula Deen, Sandra Lee, and Ina Garten all sit around in Snuggies, while the face of Rachael Ray is rendered as a cross-eyed wall clock.

A Foodie Holiday is slightly alarming, definitely irreverent and a clever spoof for the holiday season!

  2. Totally zany but fun all the same. I'm glad you shared these, we don't have anything like that here in Phoenix. I think, no matter how you were depicted, it would be quite an honor to be featured in the window.
