PIZZA PARTY

Fourth of July fun; the ultimate pizza party celebration with friends. I loved the party because it included the entire family and served everyone's favorite, pizza.
An antique 1943 International Harvester truck, outfitted with an authentic Italian wood burning oven greeted guests at the bottom of the long driveway. A crowd of adults (mostly hungry men) and kids formed a queue around the cherry red truck, waiting for the staff of Rolling in Dough Pizza to turn out another artisanal pizza.  The staff produced dozens of pies: clams, pineapple, sweet corn, ricotta and my favorite, fennel sausage to a crowd of appreciative fans.  Alas, the "adult buffet" of grilled beef and shrimp kebabs really had no chance next to the Naples worthy thin crust pizza-absolute genius!

How do you end the ultimate American meal? As dusk settled in, a familiar melody came down the street and soon a Mr. Softee truck entered the driveway. Manners were temporarily forgotten as everyone made their way to the truck for a soft serve custard, milkshake or sundae.  Fun and fantastic summer party!

What a fun way to celebrate!

We have a pizza place in Mystic that serves their pizza from a fire engine and has a beer "pump" on the back. It’s the perfect party venue.

My brother just went to a party quite like this! It is such a cute idea. What a fun alternative to the classic Hamptons clambake! When are we grabbing lunch?
