Mary NortonI've had a stretch of cocktail parties the past two weeks with nothing new in my closet that made me want to go out and celebrate. That is until I found a burgundy ostrich feather collar that I tried on just for fun, and it looked pretty fabulous. I'm a fairly conservative dresser, so wearing ostrich feathers was going out on a fashion limb for me, but I felt the need to change things up a bit. I found a fitted sleeveless silk top that perfectly matched the feathers, put on my new MAC burgundy lipgloss and channeled my best Zsa Zsa Gabor for the party. My 16 year old daughter, who I've dubbed my personal Anna Wintour gave me a "looks good mom"- a personal best for me. My doorman nodded appreciatively at my new look and murmured how really good I looked. I wondered if that was a reference to the sweatpants and sunglass outfit that I normally wear in the morning waiting for my daughter's school bus. No matter, I felt pretty glamorous- until the wind picked up outside and I found myself picking feathers out of my lipgloss. Ah, the price of glamour! Anything new and fabulous in your closet for the Holidays?
