I hope you all had a fantastic long holiday weekend. The weather in New York was fabulous on Saturday, perfect for a field trip to the New York Botanical Garden and the annual Orchid Show. Full disclosure, I do not have a green thumb when it comes to orchids, but I absolutely love their delicate beauty and can't resist keeping them around the house for as long as they will have me! This year's show was designed by the famous French botanist Patrick Blanc, who is known for his lush, gravity-defying vertical gardens which have appeared in major cities around the world. I saw one of his installations in Madrid last year, a stunning verdant tower, and knew that he would not disappoint with exotic orchids. Blanc used thousands of orchids and companion planting as his palette to create a series of towering spectacles inside the Haupt Conservatory, the most impressive is a 26-foot tall "Green Wall" bursting with lush tropical life. The installation is breathtaking and a must see if you are in town. The show runs through April 22nd so hurry!

What a beautiful post! Such a treat for you to take us along on this magical outing. The photos are stunning. Have a wonderful week. -Al
So happy you stopped in to see me...and I would give anything to be able to see this exhibition at the gardens. Just beautiful I'll bet. I love orchids too, they're worth every penny, are they not? xx's
Nothing as beautiful as an orchid. I keep telling myself to surround myself with these little beauties. Just Gorgeous, Barbara.
Happy Monday.

They are beautiful, just wish the dormant time between bloom cycles wasn't so long!

How gorgeous! I adore orchids, but I've never seen ones like these. Amazing! I love giving small potted ones as hostess gifts.
That wall of orchids is amazing! I have found orchids to be easier then you think to grow and have had several that bloom year after year. Try it just give them some water and they seem to thrive. Thank you for sharing!
Happy Monday!

Hi Barbara, nice to be making some rounds of my favorite blogs:) Thanks for your kind wishes for Teddy. What GORGEOUS highlights!! Love it and LOVE orchids......stunning!
I bet the smell was heavenly because they sure look fantastic!
So pretty! Orchids are one of my favorites.
What beautiful photos. I bet the smell is lovely. Just terrific.
A favorite of mine - love orchids and was lucky enough to see the orchid exhibit when it was in Washington - fabulous!!
Beautiful orchid display. I have four and will hopefully be able to get them to re-bloom (that's the hard part). They seem to like kitchens and bathroom/shower areas because of the steam. I also find that it's easy to over water them.
Enjoy your day.

Just gorgeous. Makes me want to go cut some flowers!

Gorgeous! Funny, I can grow most flowers but let me pick up an orchid at Trader Joe's and it's dead with a couple of weeks...while my friends say theirs bloom for months. :-)
