HAUTE HYDRANGEAS

Big, bold and bursting with color, the hydrangea is a darling of the Hamptons, skirting summer homes and gardens with their beautiful purple and blue hues all summer long. Visit my home and its obvious that they're my favorite summer plant-there are big blue Nicos gracefully falling on the side porch, a parade of red white and blue blooms cover the terrace and a border of blooms adds drama and privacy to the pool area. Gorgeous outside, they also make an incredible summer bouquet--see my favorite ways to display the summer blooms on Hamptons Magazine here-

What's your favorite summer flower?

  1. Well, here in Phoenix, all my plants are drying up or clinging to life so I just admire the gorgeous blooms in other states. The hydrangeas are ridiculously gorgeous, they demand attention. So wish I could grow them here.

  2. Nothing says summer to me like hydrangeas do. (They remind me of our July 1 wedding!) And these are just fantastic. I've brought a few of our blooms in this week and they look just fantastic in blue and white.
Have a lovely week, Barbara! XO

they don't need a lot of maintenance and care but boy they bloom so well and when put on vases and even in bottle they look so beautiful... Too bad ours aren't in full bloom yet.

  18. Barbara,
Oh my, this has got to be my favorite summer flower, hands down. I do believe hydrangea grow so much bigger in the East. I also love peonies which won't grow where I live since we do not experience frost. Your hydrangea look amazing and they make such a beautiful bouquet for indoors.

  21. Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers! All of these images are gorgeous, unfortunately for me, they don't do that fabulously in Houston due to the extreme heat!!
