HAMPTON DESIGNER SHOWHOUSE DIARY

I'm so excited to share with you all my room for this year's Hamptons Designer Showhouse sponsored by Traditional Home. It's such an honor to be chosen to participate and I was thrilled to be asked to design the dining room for the house.

Color inspiration for the room came from the Atlantic ocean and bucolic farmland that surrounds the Hamptons. I chose various shades of ocean blue punctuated by green as the color scheme for the room.
When it comes to designing a room for a showhouse, it really does "take a village" and I was privileged to work with some fabulous partners. Beacon Hill provided me with fabric for the room and their glamorous Sakura stripe in Neptune was the starting point for my design. I love this print! The awning stripe, a summer classic, is elevated in glamorous silk with shades of ocean blues and white.
I covered a lucite bench in Robert Allen's Perfect Wave in Calypso blue-- a whimsical print with the perfect beachy vibe.
The room, shown below in a "before" photo has a large bay window and a pretty coffered ceiling but it needed some color!
Phillip Jeffries Juicy Jute in Tantalizing Teal had just the right pop of color for the walls.
The textured grasscloth has a beautiful sheen that reflects the rooms natural light and adds depth and texture.

Pratt and Lambert's November, a subtle blue-gray paint color with a slight glaze added dimension to the coffered ceilings.
There's so much more to go over! Next post will feature furnishings, lighting and art-

GLAMOR REIGNS IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM

Laundry and glamorous are two words that seem incongruous, at least in my house. But the Laundry Room created by Old Town Crossing for the Hampton Designer Showhouse took care of the "dirty business" with glamour to spare. The room isn't large, but it is well planned with two sets of Electrolux washer and dryers to get things done in a jiffy and an antique wooden shelf for storage.  And while you are waiting, there's time to admire the crystal chandelier (why not!) gorgeous Scalamandre wallpaper and lounge in the cosy armchair. It sure beats washing your whites in the basement!

SHOWHOUSE CHIC OUTDOOR SPACES

Long Island based Interior Design firm Kim E. Courtney brought a sunny, modern vibe to their Hampton Designer Showhouse outdoor space by utilizing bold patterns in beachy bright blues and greens from Kravet's Echo Home Line balanced with modern white lacquer pieces. The result is a pretty, happy room ready for a summer party!

 Beach bag ready to go!
 Fun cushions for lounging
A dose of drama! Beautiful nature inspired mirror sits above a white lacquer seahorse console.
My favorite piece in the room
Soft drapes and a white coral chandelier are luxurious touches
Love the bar and beach towel vignette
The ultimate outdoor accessory--a pretty fireplace for chilly nights

HAMPTON DESIGNER SHOWHOUSE HIGHLIGHTS-MICHAEL MARIOTTI DESIGN

Hampton Designer Showhouse Master Bath-let's all give a collective sigh!  You know it's going to be an expansive space, a dreamy room with beautiful tile work and gorgeous fixtures.  But what makes this bath so uniquely beautiful? Designer Michael Mariotti's meticulous attention to detail has captured the purity of the soft grey and white marble without over designing the space. It's luxurious, with just the right amount of glamorous touches-the perfect Showhouse bath.
A custom double vanity with nickel fixtures shares the space with a soft grey natural wallcovering in a pretty geometric pattern.
A lucite chair and nature inspired table add texture to the room without overpowering the space.
The shower features marble brick tiles and a generous bench with sea green, silver and gold touches.
A bold metallic side table juxtaposes the soft sheers that surround the soaking tub.
A pretty mosaic inset centers the room-the perfect spot for a luxurious leather bench and soft throw.
The bathroom enclosure features a slate Venetian plaster wall finish and nature inspired art.

HAMPTON DESIGNER SHOWHOUSE- MOVE IN DAY

I've moved nearly a dozen times and I always find moving day stressful--trucks, boxes, disorganization reigns! How about moving day for 30 Interior Designers?  Yikes! Controlled chaos best described the unloading of a series of trucks every morning for nearly a week. Beautiful cabinets, sofas, upholstered beds and artwork made their way through a maze of landscapers planting the outside, electricians, painters, wallpaper installers, you get the idea!
Outdoor furniture ready to be placed.  Notice the gorgeous pool and steps to the tennis court.
My room--ready to start unpacking!
Gorgeous Peony carpet from the Rug Company
Tomorrow....the finished room and a story!

HAMPTON DESIGNER SHOWHOUSE ROOM PREP AND WALLCOVERING INSTALL

With the opening of the Hampton Designer Showhouse less than a week away I've been in overdrive getting the room prepped and ready and can finally share with you some room progress!
The jump off point for the overall design of my bedroom suite was definitely the wallpaper. With sloped ceilings that ran from 8 to 13 feet, I needed a stylish unifier for the bedroom which would come from the wallcovering.  I chose Phillip Jeffries Moroccan in Elephant, a Moorish inspired design in a soothing grey that adds a contemporary, sophisticated flair to the room.
The day the wall covering went up I held my breath--there was a lot of paper!  Because of the tricky ceiling, I had to make a lot of decisions as to which walls and ceilings I wanted the paper to cover. I knew I wanted  the ceiling over the bed area to be papered, which lends the area a cosy, intimate feel.
I'm so happy with the paper!  When you enter the room, you don't notice the disparity in ceiling height--you're focused on the great pattern.
Tomorrow--I'm sharing with you room lighting--a pendant with lots of glamour!

HAMPTONS DESIGNER SHOWHOUSE...AND ME!

I'm excited to share with you all some very exciting news-I've been chosen to design a room for this year's Hampton Designer Showhouse!  I am beyond thrilled that my firm,  Barbara Page|home, will be participating in this year's Showhouse with the venerable Mario Buatta serving as Honorary Chair and design legends Alexa Hampton and Jamie Drake as event co-chairs. (Pretty fabulous company!) With Traditional Home magazine and LX+TV Open House as this year's Showhouse sponsors, the event is sure to be spectacular.

Our firm has been hard at work designing a chic Guest Bedroom retreat with a glamorous, modern vibe. While I have to keep things under wraps for now, here's a design direction hint...luxe silk, touches of gold and spectacular grasscloth wallcovering. Stay tuned!
