As we drove through Southampton on Saturday I noticed a big Inventory Sale sign in the window of my favorite store Homenature. My heart began to race. The last time I had attended a sale there I came home with a gorgeous straw-hued raffia Springer coffee table. Yes it has some scuffs and nicks in a corner, but I don't care, its a Springer table and I got it for a song (in first photo). I was with my husband, who loves a good sale as much as I do--as a pair we are very dangerous! "It looks quiet, let's go in now," he said. Oh, there were so many beautiful pieces: buttery leather chairs from the 70"s, hammered brass side tables and a vintage Greek Key ottoman-all on sale!! Then I saw them-a pair of painted black cane back chairs, sitting quietly in the corner. They were pretty, modern with a soft beige suede seat-I had to have them, although I didn't know where I would put them. And so they made the journey home and the "Where do you belong?" dance began. Their first home was the library -they looked fantastic but would have to replace a set of vintage 70"s barrel backed chairs that looked terrific in the room. We moved the chairs to the living room and there they found a home, replacing a large striped cream chair. The black chairs are a bold gesture in a muted room, the perfect compliment. Not bad for a morning drive.

ReplyDeleteNothing like a pop of black to add instant drama, glamour and elegance to a room. I am a big fan of black furniture, chairs, kitchens,etc....looks great. Nothing like a bargain...and lucky you that your husband unlike mine, was a more than willing participant..lol.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a match made in heaven! I bet they'll be together 4ever :) XO
ReplyDeleteNice find, great bargain and enabling husband - perfect!

Just stumbled across your blog and noticed the cute dog in the window! It looks just like my mini Labradoodle Paisley! She sits in our picture window all day! What kind of dog?
ReplyDeleteCharming!! Every room needs a shot of black - these are perfect!
ReplyDeleteVery cute indeed!!! Great find!!!
ReplyDeleteHe is a Labradoodle named Dash sitting in his favorite spot next to the window. They are great dogs!
ReplyDeleteThe pairing looks so smart, as does the pairing of white armchairs too -- very nice.
ReplyDeleteWonderful find, I love klismos style chairs.
ReplyDeleteLove the chairs, love the dog, love the blog!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Homenature...they are so friendly and I always find just the right thing for a project. I found a dining table that was the jumping off point for a house I did last spring. Great stuff.
