Sweet clementines are one of the seasonal delights of winter. Of course, they are perfect alone, but try tossing them with a simple syrup of balsamic vinegar and sugar for a quick, elegant dessert-so good!
Clementines With Balsamic Vinegar
- 8 sweet clementines
- 1-ounce best quality balsamic vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Freshly ground black pepper
Directions
Peel the clementines and separate them into segments. In a mixing bowl, toss the fruit segments, vinegar, and sugar. Mix until well combined. Divide the fruit mixture among 4 martini glasses, careful to get all the vinegar out of the mixing bowl and into the glasses. Crack fresh pepper over the top and serve.
recipe adapted from Mario BataliBamboo Restaurant in East Hampton serves delicious sushi and has an amazing drink menu. I love to order their Clementine Martini's-slightly sweet, very grownup. Try one this weekend!
Clementine Martini
Ingredients
• 3 oz. Svedka Clementine Vodka
• 1 oz. Grey Goose or other non-flavored top-shelf vodka
• 1/4 teaspoon of granulated sugar
• The meat of 1 Clementine
To a cocktail shaker add 3 oz. of Clementine vodka. Then 1 oz. of a vodka like Grey Goose. Add a splash of sugar. Cut a clementine in half and take a fork and scrap the meat out of the inside of each half into the shaker. Add ice to the shaker and shake vigorously. Pour into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a thin slice of orange.
I love clementines. Could eat them by the bagful but other than a salad addition, I've never had them any other way - seems silly. Both of these combos sound delicious.
ReplyDeleteDelicious! I think a clementine martini would be the perfect start to a long weekend. Hope its a fabulous one!
