Located dangerously close to my apartment, the oh so chic Jack Roger's, creator of the classic Navajo sandal, opened its first flagship store earlier this week on the Upper East Side. The Jack Roger's sandal was designed in the 1950's as a casual resort wear shoe. Hand-crafted with whimsical whip stitching, the Navajo sandal became an instant classic in 1961 when Jackie Onassis was photographed in Palm Beach wearing a pair of "Jacks."
The shoe became an instant summer staple for the preppy set and over the years has gained a cult-like status as the essential summer shoe.
Creative Director Lauren Dupont wearing a jacket from the new line.
Opening night fete was filled with fans of the preppy line, many snatching the glam beaded clutches and chic long jackets which are part of a stylish new collection. The line has expanded over the past few years with the addition of stylish platforms, ballet flats and handbags. While I will always be loyal to my Navajo's, my newest crush is the Marabelle platform. With it's familiar Navajo "face" and 4" platform heel, the sandal is the perfect summer shoe.

ReplyDeleteI have been wearing these since I was little and we would visit my great grandfather in Palm Beach. I love that they are ALL the rage!

Smiled at the dangerously close bit! I know the feeling, but in NYC, when you say close, it's literal :) Well after reading the first comment, whether it's Jack or Steve, they are still stunning and I'll strap on whichever one I run into first :) XO, Kelly
ReplyDeleteOh they are gorgeous shoes, shop, staff, wow wee, just a visual overload of beautiful things, love Posie
ReplyDeleteI am a jack rogers nut and must have 8 or 10 pair in my closet...have worn them for many many years, they are always my go to sandal. Can't wait to visit the store...looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteLove the platform! Didn't know about the Jack Rogers shoes, fun to learn a new fashion fact!
ReplyDeleteLove the look but I can't wear them - they are too wide for me and considering I've already sprained my ankle several times, just can't take the chance. Next time I'm in the city, I'll have to stop by their new chic shop to see if perhaps there's a style that fits! So many other cute things as well!
ReplyDeletelove the new ballet flats...
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Always happy to read your blog and follow it!
ReplyDeleteAll the best!

Love these! And the wedges are terrific! Definitely going to add them to the list of things I need for summer!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is serious jack pot info!! Yet, one more reason for me to get myself to the city this Spring!

I LOVE Jacks, and I love that they come in narrow widths. They're one of the only slides I have any luck with.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was in NY to get to the flagship! I usually check Saks and Arthur Beren in San Francisco, though AB has better width choices. They need to do an actual Jack store here!
Just found you! Loved the post! Drop by to see our fabulous imported French Basketeer Giveaway. To quote Andrea plastic bags are “so passé!”
