EXOTIC TASTE

I was taken with the name --after all, who wouldn't take a second look at book named Exotic Taste?  But this new work by art historian Emmanuelle Gaillard (Vendome Press) is so much more than a provocative title.  Exotic Taste: Orientalist Interiors utilizes an exquisite combination of illustrations and photography, taking the reader on a journey through the alluring and extravagant style of Orientalism. The pictures are rapturous; elaborate images of the Far East, India, and the Islamic world provide fresh inspiration for all design enthusiasts. I've read through the book several times and have dog-eared The Splendour of the Near East section; it's filled with photos of beautiful mosaic frieze and ceramic majolica tiles in Orientalist motifs that are spellbinding. Enjoy a peek at Exotic Taste!

Stay posted for my give away later today and have a great day!

this type of book would grab my attention too! Some of those images look like they are from Topkapi Palace in Istanbul...what a fun visual journey through exotic interiors!

Looks like a great book. I used to do mosaics myself and am crazy for the art and it's detail. Thanks for your nice comment today. I'm glad to find you as well. Am signing up to follow. Just peaked at your last post on the Fall trend on sued sandals. Sooo glad to hear about that...just love them. Have been so busy lately I don't have a clue what is going on with fashion. I need friends to keep me up.

It's all a sumptuous feast for the senses - but I'm CRAZY for that room chocked full of blue and white china! Absolutely fabulous.

Wow, so many intriguing imagery from this book. Some of the images remind me of the vases my grandparents have in Hong Kong.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
