I'm always on the look out for something stylish to carry fabric samples, paint chips and other tools of the trade around town. This satchel by Cambridge Satchel Company is classic and chic and certainly fits the bill. An update of the classic 1950's English school bag, the satchel comes in traditional leather tones as well as eye popping au courant shades.
The story of the bag's inception is heartwarming and truly inspiring. British mother Julie Deane's daughter had been bullied at school and in an effort to earn enough money to send her to private school, she decided to try her hand at designing a school bag.The satchel's design was taken from the pages of Harry Potter, inspired by the bags that Harry and friends carried to Hogwarts. Update-her daughter is at private school and the bags are coming soon to Bloomies. If you can't wait, visit Cambridge Satchels.

A IS FOR AKRIS
With Spring right around the corner, my focus inevitably starts to switch from how to keep warm with my cache of cashmere sweaters and leather gloves to a longing for a something smart and fresh for spring. Perhaps a chic little bag with a architectural twist. I've always loved the clean, modern lines of Swiss Design House Akris, so it was no surprise that I fell in love with their bag line. The stunning trapezoidal-shaped Ai bag designed by Albert Kriemler is named from famous Race Horses with the beginning letter 'A': Ai, Amata and Alba. I'm putting all my money on the Ai handbag in the first!
