DINING WITH DIFFA

I visited the Architectural Digest Home Design Show yesterday at Pier 94 in Manhattan.  Dining By Design New York 2010, showcased a host of incredible designer room vignettes and tabletops.  If you are in the city, it's definitely worth the visit- through this Sunday to benefit DIFFA.

My favorite vignette was from Ralph Lauren home-a jaunty equestrian lunch in the barn setting, with Mr. Ed barn doors, colorful winner ribbons and beautiful red, green and blue napkins with complimentary colored plates.  First place, in my book!

Carini Lang's clever design incorporated three faux animal skin rugs which were applied to the walls.  The centerpiece features large bronze and gold eggs which compliment the neutral tones in the rugs.  Crushed colored glass on the gold chargers gives the table setting extra bling!

The Continental Airlines vignette features flowering wisteria creating a glamorous secret garden scene with a mirrored table and silver accents.

Bradley Stephenson's room is soft and sophisticated featuring a long white table with chocolate accents.  I love the dramatic white tree branches that reach the ceiling.

Manhattan Magazine and Mark Wilson Design takes the iconic New York taxi and uses the bold yellow color in its spectacular table setting.  The table is made of clear lucite- back lit and filled with gold rocks, it creates a shimmering, golden tableaux.  Mini Empire State buildings and a dramatic backdrop complete this sophisticated scene.

Ultimate Hollywood glamour-Arpad Baska's vignette features an all silver room with a spectacular long crystal fall and a classic 1940's movie backdrop.
