While browsing through the MoMA Design Store, one of my favorite sites for new and unusual gifts, I came upon a new line of fantastic products from Portugal. The "Destination: Portugal" line includes over 100 new items including beautiful tableware and serving pieces, many made from cork, and perfect for summer entertaining.

Portugal is one of the world's major producers of cork, and with the decrease in cork usage for wine bottles, Portuguese designers are developing innovative ways to feature the material in their work. The chic Pelcor Designs (2009) Cork watch is my favorite piece from the collection. With a band made of ecological cork fabric and a modern face, the water-resistant watch ($75.00) is beach chic and summer party perfect.

They always have something gift-worthy there, don't they? I hadn't seen this line yet. I missed the store the Met used to have nearby. I always used to find great things there too.

That ceramic bud vase is perfect to show off the beauty of a single stem - can't you see a number of them lined up on a mantle or down a long table?
