MAD FOR WISTERIA

Imagine my surprise when I arrived in Southampton this past Saturday and saw beautiful wisteria flowering on  top of the pool house pergola.  Although their flowering beauty is brief, I tried to savor every moment I could, serving a picnic lunch under the flowering branches.

We planted the wisteria about six years ago, after we built the pool house.  They quickly grew, and within two years had taken over the entire pergola. I love the juxtaposition of the formal Greek columns against the rustic pergola beams.

Our little folly was designing the cupola, a grand gesture on a sweet little house!

Wishful thinking-we just opened the pool, although it's still much too cold for a swim.

How beautiful - we have a wisteria that has taken over a side porch with its tendrils but has never blossomed. While the foliage is pretty and fresh, the blossoms are to die for gorgeous!

This is just gorgeous! Not only the wisteria, but the whole pool house with the copula (sp). Lucky girl, indeed.
