HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS: SUGARPLUM DESSERT BUFFET WITH DESIGN CHIC

I'm delighted to introduce the stylish mother/daughter duo Kristy and Beth of Design Chic  to Home For The Holidays today. With their understated and sophisticated design aesthetic, I'm anticipating a very elegant and delicious dessert soiree. Thank you both for planning the Sugarplum Dessert Buffet. As a lover of all things chocolate and sweet, I've been looking forward to this delicious post for weeks. Are you up for a little indulgence? Me too!

Welcome to the Sugarplum Dessert Buffet! Barbara must have known she was picking the right girls when she asked us to handle desserts at her fabulous virtual dinner party because, if there's one thing we know, it's sweets! While the sugar is the main event, planning the perfect dessert buffet, as we all know, involves much more than just the food. Making the right first impression is always key. We would make sure our entryway was simple, decorative and beautiful, just like this one, so our guests know that they are welcome!

Christian Dior said, "Zest is the secret of all beauty." This vintage Dior has plenty of zest and is Beth's attire for this dessert buffet. People just don't dress up enough anymore if you ask us, so we're asking our guests to please wear black tie.
Nothing says holiday like a gorgeous red dress. This is Kristy's pick for Barbara's holiday soiree.
Clothes may not make the man, but flowers can certainly make the table. There is nothing more classic than white, green, beautiful silver and a little candlelight. These are from Kristy's wedding, but we would have something similar for our guests' tables so that everyone could still talk.
Another beautiful arrangement, perfect for an entryway table.
An arrangement like this would be perfectly suited for flanking our delicious sweets on the buffet.
We would love something like this (from the White House floral designer, not my wedding!) in the living room for guests to enjoy while they mingle.
Few things are as elegant as a simple white rose. Piled on a cake platter, this arrangement is as delicious as the desserts.
This is a holiday celebration, after all, so we'd like to kick it off with a little bubbly. Waiters, in tuxedo, of course, will meet you at the door with a glass.
No holiday dessert is complete without a little eggnog, and you can't get prettier than this.
Petit fours are one of our favorite Christmas desserts. Bite sized portions make them easy to eat.
Bouche trees are as tasty as they are beautiful on the table
Meringues are always part of our Christmas Eve celebration. Light as air and melt-in-your mouth scrumptious, they're the perfect finish to a decadent dinner.
Buche de Noel sure does sound more sophisticated than simply calling it a yule log, but, no matter what the name, this dessert looks festive and is sure to taste amazing.
No dessert buffet would be complete without a taste of chocolate. This chocolate truffle cheesecake is rich and filling, perfect for a cold winter's night.
You could eat it, sure, but we love a gingerbread house for a festive touch to our party table. After the guests leave, the house comes apart!

One of the most important elements of our Christmas dessert is the party popper. Everyone cracks theirs at the same time for a fun surprise, and, even better, a brightly colored hat! The photos are priceless!
Dessert simply tastes better with a warm beverage. We offer guests coffee and tea, always served out of family silver.
Hot chocolate is the quintessential holiday treat and a perfect ending to a delicious evening.
For a holiday soiree, leaving empty handed is simply not an option. A stunning package is almost as important as the treat inside. The best part of this party favor? Since this is a virtual dinner party, what's underneath this beautiful bow can be anything you want!
Thank you so much for coming to the Sugarplum Dessert Buffet, and thanks to Barbara for asking us to host!

I think that's the most beautiful gingerbread house I have ever seen, I had one as my wedding (December) cake, I wish I had spotted that design 13 years ago!
