Super Moon-Super Color

Last night's epic Harvest moon, with its bold burst of orange and apricot hues reminds me once again how vital nature is as a inspiration to both fashion and interior design.  

One of my favorite fashion designers, Naeem Khan, channeled a summer sunset in his 2014 Spring collection.

From salmon to cinnabar, you can turn up the volume and make a statement with orange or add subtle peach highlights to a room with the added benefit that the color makes everyone's skin look fabulous!

I'm so enamored with the color that I used Beacon Hills gorgeous Silk Lantern in a showhouse dining room earlier this year. Voluminous ballroom curtains were paired with muted gray for a fresh, modern twist.

BEHIND THE PRIVET-HAMPTON CHIC BY AMANDA NISBET

I've never seen a room designed by Amanda Nisbet that I haven't fallen head over heels for and this classic Hamptons shingle style home is no exception.  A master of color and texture, Nisbet brings a youthful vibrancy and sophistication to the classic interiors with shades of cool blue in lively, modern prints that make me yearn for another month of summer!

MANUEL CANOVAS PALI

I can't step foot in the Cowtan and Tout showroom without a visit to admire my favorite Manuel Canovas print, Pali.  I've been obsessed with the stunning tropical print for years. The sophisticated pattern of gorgeous fruits and florals is complimented by a palette of bright and bold hues that Canovas is so known for. You can't go wrong with Pali for a dose of instant glamour!

SPRING GREEN

I'm trying hard to ignore the rain falling outside my window this morning and decided to focus my attention on an optimistic dose of spring green.  The designer Amanda Nisbet is known for her masterful mix of colors and textures. I've always admired her ability to add bold strokes of color to a room with stylish results. Just look at the chic sitting room with walls painted a playful chartreuse and luxurious gold and grey accents. I've been hanging on to the tear sheet for months and recently decided to dip my foot into the color pool and bought a delicious Lee Jofa apple velvet for our master bedroom headboard.  My husband was a little skeptical, and honestly so was I.  I'm not sure I'm a candy apple girl-but its off to the upholsterer, so we shall see. How do you feel about a little spring green?

A bit of spring time sprucing-up for me always includes an accessory buying spree.  I'm looking for brilliant color, and coral seems to hit the right note these days.  From pinky orange to juicy red, the color coral creates warmth and brings vibrancy to a room.
