Pretty in Pink

July has graced us with some well deserved sunshine and rising temperatures.  Time to shed those heavy cabs and pinots and reach for something light, fruity, fresh-pink!

Lighten up your summer libations with a delicious rose′. Rose′ wine is perfect for the summertime-it goes well with grilled meats, seafood, even burgers. I went off to my local liquor store and eyed the rose section carefully.  There above my favorite summer staple, the delicious rose′ Domaine d'Ott, read the label "Southampton Water".  Cheeky but true.

Domaine d'Ott, ($30) with its distinctive curvy bottle, is considered the grandaddy of rose′ wines. Hailing from the Provence region in southern France, its flavors include a delightful mix of peaches, strawberries and kiwis. It's light, refreshing and a welcome addition to your summer meal.  It's my favorite hostess gift to give and to receive!

If you are looking for something a little less pricey, try a bottle of Chateau Mourgues du Gres Les Galets Rose′ 2008 ($15) from the Costieres de Nimes. It has a lovely watermelon color with raspberry and citrus notes.

Cheers!
