Southampton Flower Show

Last Thursday, the Southampton Garden Club held its annual flower show The Enchanted Garden  at the Southampton Cultural Center.  Fables, fairy tales and myths provided the inspiration for the beautiful arrangements with names like Thumbelina and Mad Hatter's Tea Party. The arrangements were whimsical and clever--my  favorite and a winner with the judges was the Princess and the Pea arrangement.  A stunning  jewelry collection was made entirely from plant material then painted to look like gems-they were intricate and beautiful works of art.
The sun was a welcome relief from weeks of rain and gave guests the opportunity to visit six of the most spectacular gardens in Southampton. Fragrant rose cutting gardens, rows of hydrangea just beginning to bloom and chic pool houses punctuated the grounds-some gardens even had opera music piped through the gardens!
