I love having out of town friends come and stay with us in the summer. The garden is lush and vibrant, the beach is a bicycle ride away and cocktails are at six. I set up the guest room with me in mind--after all, who is harder to please than moi? Lots of fluffy down pillows and a summer down comforter dress the bed, a small vase filled with garden flowers and a stack of books and magazines sit on a table. On the side table sits a pretty wicker tray stocked with goodies for late night reading. A carafe of water and two tumblers, a bowl of cashews and a bag of Tate's very addictive chocolate chip cookies-- your guests will love you for thinking of them!
