BEHIND THE PRIVET-WESTERLY ESTATE IN SOUTHAMPTON

There are so many beautiful and architecturally important homes in the Hampton's, with both traditional and modern pedigrees, that I thought it would be fun and interesting for readers to get a behind the hedges perspective-hence, a new feature, Behind The Privet.  The first home in the series is Westerly, a magnificent estate which I have been fascinated with for years.  Carefully protected by acres of specimen trees and gardens, the house is barely visible from the road, which, of course, lends to its allure.
The estate is considered one of the most important homes on Eastern Long Island and sits on nearly 14 acres in the estate section of Southampton.  It was recently purchased by super chic clothing designer Tory Burch for approximately $40 million, a reduction from an asking price of  $59 million, (a girl loves a sale!)  This 1929 red brick Georgian boasts 25 rooms, a gunite swimming pool, pool pavilion and har-tru tennis court, which should be plenty of room for Tory's three darling sons to roam.
I've had the pleasure to visit the home several times, most recently last summer, when the estate's gardens were featured on the Southampton Garden Club's annual garden tour.  Although the interior rooms were not part of the tour, guests entered through the exquisite marbled entryway and were treated to views of the vast living room, library and dining room areas.  Iced tea was served on the brick terrace, located off the entry way, which provided guests with a magnificent view of the vast gardens below.
Tory is one of the most hardworking and nicest ladies I know- I'm sure she will have her new home in gorgeous entertaining style by this summer. What time are cocktails?
Classic old world charm greets guest from this Hiss and Weekes designed estate.

The double height entry foyer features black and white marble floors and a sweeping iron railed staircase.

The library features Swedish knotty pine paneling and an exquisite marble mantle piece.

The large living room/ballroom showcases stunning architectural wood work and room for three seating areas.

The terrace is the perfect spot for a glass of iced tea or a gin and tonic. It was wonderful to sit and enjoy the beautiful vista on a hot August afternoon.

The back of the home is a vision of symmetry. Gracious brick stairs lead to several gardens.

The west side of the home features a glassed in porch with casual rattan furniture. Outside, rows of boxwood line specimen trees.

The quaint painted white arch is used as a side entrance from the driveway.

Jeez Louise, how many pairs of reva's did she have to sell to get this house? She just happens to be my girl crush, so I think she deserves it and I hope to see the new interior in a magazine some time soon. MB

I've had my iPad towards close to 2 months now and I'm considerable you, Steve jobs certainly has his way of converting people to be a Mac/Apple fan. I own the iPad without 3G because I didn't hankering to entertain to pay as a service to a supplemental tailback in rank to be bruited about the micro SIM card. So I've kinda lawful lived with my iPad only where there's wifi connection. Which are aplenty anyway at Starbucks, Mcdonalds, and the libraries. This was once my benefactor introduced me to a tickety-boo way round this stew -- a 3G wifi router AP that supports GPRS, GSM, WCDMA, HSUPA, HSDPA, UMT and LIMIT!

I purchased the Huawei E5830 3G WiFi Router AP (WCDMA/HSUPA/HSDPA/UMT/EDGE/GPRS/GSM) from DealtoWorld.com, in the Networking category, under my familiar's advice, and I believe he gets points or commission from my purchase, since he's a DealtoWorld.com affiliate. The router AP is tremendously little, lightweight and convenient. So any longer I can weld to wifi anywhere with mp iPad! I no longer need to hunt on a trip and not up to par pro a wifi AP at cafes etc. Nor put in so much of my bread on caffeine overdose at Starbucks and other cafes. In addition, the 3G Wifi Router AP supports pretty much all the bandwidths -- GPRS,GSM,WCDMA,HSUPA,HSDPA,UMT,EDGE. Take a look at pictures I've uploaded of the Huawei 3G WiFi router that has made my fixation so much easier, and is promoting a healthier caffeine-free lifestyle. It proves that a geek lifestyle does not not have to take off manual labourer in assistance with coffee.

And to imagine I was taking into consideration paying leftover to upgrade to the iPad that supports 3G! I'm so thrilled that that's not predetermined anymore with this 3G wifi router AP. I can right-minded tie together to the internet wherever I am with the Huawei 3G Wifi Router, as long as there is signal. This is not a technology creation per se, but it has certainly made my individual plainly more thrifty! As well, I'm skilled to prevent my fortune that I would mostly spend on Starbucks, McCafe, and other cafes with wifi! Which, through the fail, makes me query whether it's a ploy at near Steve Jobs, to have planned launched the 3G iPad portrayal one much later, so that wifi cafes can enjoy plenty of firm from iPad wifi version. But I digress.

The 3G WiFi router AP I bought from DealtoWorld.com would probably also be able to authorize to me download and caper around with my apps on my iTouch, supposing I haven't tried it yet. Shouldn't be a problem I should think. This $100+ may be the crush hard cash I've spent since it enables me to have a variety of WiFi nucleus wherever I am. If I was more entrepreneurial, I can fifty-fifty start charging other geeks at cafes without WiFi representing offering access to them. I'm steady I can undoubtedly pocket privately the $100 this go to pieces b yield! Alternatively, maybe I can start being an affiliate of DealtoWorld.com too, since I'm starting to go for more gadgets and tools there, and acquire been spreading little talk up to my children and friends. Into the bargain, Christmas is coming in less than 2 months' continually, and I recollect this Huawei 3G WiFi router would take in a splendid gift as a replacement for many of my tech geek friends. I'm sure they'll also appreciate how sleek and chill the router looks!
